Mere Objects: a tiny paper crane folded from the dictionary definition for "complete" & surrounded by flakes of gold & silver paint, sent by a woman whose childhood and early adult years were shaped by ongoing trauma & abuse from multiple people, including her own deeply troubled mother.
She writes, "The silence has been so hard. I never told anyone. Ever, until I was in my 40s." For her portrait, she chose an origami crane, a symbol of blessing, peace, love, and liberation; as well as flakes of gold & silver paint from her artwork, a reminder of the "inexplicable value" of all people, no matter what we have experienced.
May you rest in the inexplicable value of your own spirit, which no trauma can ever silence or diminish.
