Mere Objects: black ribbon for years of silence, teal ribbon for years of owning her story, & beads from a necklace she once wore to hide her injuries.
The night before she started college, this woman was assaulted by a stranger on the dance floor. Later that night, a roommate's friend raped her in their dorm room. Unable to process the violation, she spent 5 1/2 years in silence and denial.
Today, 14 years after the attacks, she is open about her experience and claims the identity of "survivor."
May you feel and know and trust the fierce inner flame of your own soul, whose strength carried you through the years of silence to become the woman you are today.
